Research
My work is strongly aligned and driven by industry needs. Through industry projects, I have identified two topics that are relevant to manufacturing companies in Singapore (although I suspect that it may be relevant to companies outside of Singapore too):
- Methods to determine MTS and MTO items and its effects on a production inventory network
- The impacts of contractual penalties on the optimal placement of inventory in a service network with time-based service levels
If you are intending to do a Ph.D. (or are already doing one) and are interested in doing some high impact work with great industry applications, I'll be interested to hear from you.
Industry
A dominant area of my projects revolve around supply chain management and operations management innovation.
The intent is to create a quantum leap in a company's productivity to spur competitiveness. When
data-driven managerial and operational challenges decisions need to be made, I build custom-made software tools (where necessary) that
adopt analytics and operations research techniques.
