Aim, Scope and Approach

We engage in the research and development of methods and their applications in the areas of microsystems and robotics. Our research focuses on mechanical manipulation of physical and biological systems at micro to macro scale, with the aim of producing practical and innovative engineering solutions.

We integrate scientific principles from multiple disciplines in developing our methods and enabling technologies for mechanical micro/macro-manipulation, and apply them to solve practical problems in multiple domains. These disciplines include electromagnetism, piezoelectricity, hydrodynamics in microchannels, robotics, and control systems, while the application domains span manipulation of extracellular matrix stiffness, angiogenesis, microfluidics, microrheology, flow cytometry, robotic adaptive task execution, and force-controlled microinjection.
